Investment Manager Leveraged Lending Europe (Associate Director)
Are you passionate about complex deal structuring and high-impact transactions? Join our dynamic and growing Leveraged Lending team, where you'll work on originating, structuring, and executing debt solutions for private equity-backed clients. As part of a fast-paced and collaborative environment, you will gain exposure to high-profile deals, contribute to credit analyses and play a key role in supporting strategic financing decisions. We are looking for a driven individual with strong analytical skills, a commercial mindset, and a keen interest in capital markets and M&A.
You & Your Role
In the dynamic world of leveraged lending, you work on European deals with private equity parties and make a visible impact on food and energy transitions. As an Investment Manager, you execute the full trajectory: from generating and structuring ideas to documenting and closing, always with an eye for risks and opportunities. You will work in a diverse, international team of approximately 40 leveraged lending colleagues and with other partners within the bank.
Deliver Results
- Structure and execute financing solutions that directly support the strategic transitions and growth ambitions of our clients, including acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, and recapitalizations.
- Enhance client value by translating sharp analyses into actionable, bankable structures under tight deadlines.
- Cultivate long-term relationships at sponsor and company level that lead to repeat mandates through broader strategic collaboration with Rabobank teams across products and geographies
Facts & Figures
- 36 or 40 hours per week.
- Hybrid working: 2 to 3 days per week at the Utrecht office.
- 9.5 million clients worldwide.
Top 3 Responsibilities
- Structure and execute event-driven financings for private equity-backed companies, including negotiating terms/documentation and preparing well-substantiated credit applications. Depending on your experience, you will receive more coaching from colleagues
- Manage and grow client relationships by identifying cross-sell opportunities across Rabobank’s product suite, actively monitoring credit and market risks, and integrating sustainable financing solutions such as Sustainability-Linked Loans where appropriate.
- Lead deal teams across origination, execution, and portfolio management, providing guidance to junior colleagues and ensuring effective alignment with internal stakeholders and external parties such as law firms, debt advisors, and other banks.
Managing stakeholders is an important part of the job. As an Investment Manager you have to balance the interests of clients, commercial interests, market- and credit risk factors, ESG themes, legislation and regulatory frameworks. You are aware of all these factors and are able to bring them together.
Together We Achieve More
We believe in the power of differences. By combining the differences of people, we become an even better bank. We are curious about what you bring to our Leveraged Lending Europe team.
“Working with high demanding, sophisticated private equity firms and analysing their targets whilst managing various stakeholders is what drives me. Our culture enables you to strongly develop yourself, grow responsibilities quickly and still have plenty of fun.”
Nicoline Russel, Director Leveraged Lending.
“Supporting our clients in value-added transactions and consistently delivering in the short timelines of an M&A process is what drives me and the rest of team. Financing is a key element of any leveraged transaction and we are challenged by our sophisticated (private equity) client base to provide innovative solutions, crisp and thorough analyses and to leverage Rabobank’s excellent balance sheet quality. As such, you will learn a great deal of the leveraged finance world through impactful transactions and you will learn it quick. Most importantly, you will do this as part of a diverse and international team facilitating your learning curve, with ambitious colleagues in a fun working environment”.
Paul Koeweiden, Team Lead Investment Managers.
