At present the team consists of approx. 30 professionals based in Amsterdam, London and Frankfurt, with a strong mandate to further grow the franchise to help realize the Bank’s sustainability targets.

As our new (Senior) Associate within Project Finance you will be responsible for building and maintaining strong, sustainable, long-term relationships with clients and prospects by offering complex tailor-made financing solutions and the subsequent ongoing management of the relationship with the client across the full life cycle of the credit relationship.
Within Project Finance we arrange structured debt financing for long-term projects and infrastructure type financing. Our team has a strong focus on supporting the energy transition and digitalization of society. We finance renewable energy projects (such as offshore and onshore wind, solar, energy from waste, energy storage) and digital infrastructure projects (such as datacentres and fibre networks). Our Project Finance team has further built an extensive track record in logistic infrastructure. We operate across Europe out of our offices in Amsterdam, London and Frankfurt. Within the Project Finance team we are also responsible for the portfolio management activities of our Project Finance transactions.
Your job
It will be your job to arrange and structure complex project financings, predominantly for projects in the Energy Transition landscape (ranging from more conventional technologies like solar PV and wind, to newer technologies such as hydrogen and carbon capture & storage). You will manage, onboard and execute new deals, write credit applications, review due diligence and legal documentation. You will negotiate and coordinate with clients, agents, external advisors (legal, technical, insurance, market) and our internal mid- and back office. You will assist in market analysis and commercial activities, including pitching to clients and attending lenders meetings.
In addition, you will also be managing part of the existing portfolio of transactions, including monitoring and management of risks. You will be responsible for timely handling of waiver/amendments, credit papers, refinancings and in-depth credit reviews of complex tailor made transactions.
You typically work in deal teams tailored to the case at hand, taking into account the required balance in terms of seniority and sector expertise. In close cooperation with the syndicate team you actively support the distribution of debt exposures to third parties.

Your team within Project Finance consists of approx. 25 professional women and men, with diverse backgrounds and nationalities. The team works closely together ensuring that new deals, fully aligned with the ‘Banking for Better’ strategy of the bank are onboarded and that the portfolio is sound and growing in a sustainable way.
You shall be working in Amsterdam. We work in an open floor space on the Gustav Mahlerlaan, where we have all stakeholders in our vicinity (Client Coverage, Risk, Syndication, Products, Legal, Sustainability etc).
Your profile
Our ideal (Senior) Associate Project Finance Renewables has former client facing, execution and/or risk management experience within the Energy Transition landscape, and is able to manage complex tailor-made financing solutions by using specialized sector and structuring expertise.She or he doesn’t get stuck with one area of responsibility over another and is able to adapt to changes and use them to her/his advantage.
- Educated at university level
- Knowledge of and strong affinity with the Energy Transition and its related technologies
- Minimum 2-4 years of relevant financial experience in the Energy Transition sector, of which minimum 1-2 years related to structuring, execution and portfolio management of project finance and/or other structured corporate financing transactions
- Applied knowledge of the credit products and skills
- Extensive knowledge of international credit process (incl. credit application/processing/ monitoring)
- Excellent in speaking, writing and reading of English.
