Senior Financial Risk Officer - Loss Given Default Data Squad - ING

GCR takes responsibility for finding solutions for borrowers in difficulty, acting as the restructuring knowledge centre for ING Bank. Our objective is to preserve principal, maximise recovery and determine a strategy which best benefits ING Bank and its customers. GCR is also global lead for ING Bank's Loan Loss Provisioning process.

What are we looking for?
GCR is looking for a Senior Financial Risk Officer for the Loss Given Default (LGD) data squad. The LGD data team is a new cross departmental squad with members of Global Credit Restructuring (GCR) and Wholesale Banking Capital & Liquidity Expertise Centre (WB CLEC). The squad will focus on ensuring complete and correct LGD related data for modelling purposes. The team is co-managed and resourced by GCR and WB CLEC.

WB CLEC is organised around five key themes: (i) Funding and Liquidity, (ii) Regulations, Supervision and Policies, (iii) Pricing, (iv) Reporting, Data and Analytics and (iv) WB Portfolio Tribe. The WB Portfolio Tribe focuses on ensuring that ING's regulatory corporate credit risk models within Wholesale Banking are fit for purpose, carry regulatory consent and support the Wholesale Banking decision making processes. The WB Portfolio Tribe has adopted the Agile way of Working with squad specialists from Model Development, Risk COO and Front Office departments working together.

What does the role entail?
You will be the senior in the team performing LGD data remediation activities for (mainly) the WB portfolio. As senior your are involved in planning and coaching activities for the team. The remediation role is twofold as it is focussed on historical data remediation for closed default cases and includes a control function for current default cases. The team is responsible for ensuring data completeness and correctness for all default cases, historical and current dragging default cases. Furthermore the team is responsible for supporting the GCR account management in registering all required Cost & Recovery (C&R) information and assist the local and regional Restructuring Units (RU) of ING and local FO offices to adhere to the C&R data requirement. You will be the expert in this area and are responsible to address identified issues (e.g. ECB, audit findings).

Job description

  • You are the lead of a team of experts which are all involved in ensuring complete and correct C&R data for Wholesale Banking portfolio in LGD lab (via standalone C&R tool). Going forward other portfolios (like Domestic Bank NL) will be included in the  scope.
  • You perform historical data remediation for default cases within the Wholesale Banking portfolio (including Large Corporates, Commercial Property Finance, Project Finance, Lease, Trade Commodity Finance).
  • You (pro-)actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the C&R data collection process and the inclusion of regulatory data requirements in the C&R data collection process (in agreement with Model Development).
  • You have regular interaction with the GCR account managers, the GCR MT and WB CLEC.

What we are looking for in you?

  • Good understanding of lending in terms of products, processes and documentation (e.g. loan documentation and collateral valuation reports).
  • Senior with strong stakeholder management skills
  • Good communication skills, excellent command of English
  • Strong analytical skills, experience and/or clear affinity with data / gap analysis
  • Initiative, pro-active in picking up tasks
  • Organised, providing structure and maintaining focus on the full picture
  • Flexibility, can work independently but is also a team player
  • Understanding of credit/restructuring procedures and related systems, tools (e.g. Risk Rater, Vortex, i-Care)
  • Knowledge of (LGD) modelling will help (not strictly required)

Salary & Benefits

The job is for 36 or 40 hours per week. The job is graded 12.
